Business Coaching

When your business runs well,
you get your life back.

As the owner of your business, you likely wear many hats. You may also be at the limit of your natural ability, working long hours and never taking vacation. You constantly ask yourself: “What should I focus on to accelerate my company’s success?”

You can have a business that supports your life, instead of the other way around. Imagine for a moment what it would be like to feel in control of your business, with stable cash flow, a steady stream of new customers, and systems that leave you feeling organized and make it easy to delegate, so you can actually take time off!

As your business coach, we’ll help you step into your role as the leader of your team, so you can spend your time working ON the business instead of IN it. Investing in business coaching and training will be the best decision you ever make!

With some targeted education and training, along with perspective and insight from a trained and experienced business coach and mentor, you can achieve the same results my clients report:

  • Increased sales and revenue
  • Spending less time in the business
  • Increased clarity and confidence in your ability to grow the business
  • Employees that are trained and follow proven systems
  • Less crisis management

You’re not alone

During our years of working with small business owners, entrepreneurs, and their teams here are the common challenges we have observed:

  • You struggle with not enough time to get everything done.
  • It feels like you’re busy all the time, but you’re not making any progress. You feel disorganized, like things are slipping. You know you should create systems and streamline processes, but you’re too busy putting out fires. (Vacation? What’s that?)
  • Your business would be great if it weren’t for your employees.
  • You can’t seem to hire the right people. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier to do the work yourself than manage your employees. You are acutely aware of the cost of a bad hire. Yet you know you need people in order to expand and make your business profitable.
  • There never seems to be enough money.
  • You lay awake at night worried about cash flow and making payroll. Maybe some months you don’t get paid because everything else comes first. No matter how much is coming in, it’s never enough.

All of this leads to confusion and frustration and the question, “What am I doing wrong?”

The four key problems

  • 1Lack of business education/training
You are awesome at what you DO. You have great customer service and an excellent product/service. You’re not as good at business, because you never got that education or training. You’ve managed to get this far without it, and now you’re faced with issues you’re not prepared to handle.
  • 2Lack of business systems
This leads to problems and inefficiencies. Your customer service is inconsistent, and you spend a lot of time putting out fires. When you first started, customer service is what made you great. Now you are constantly reinventing the wheel, which is inefficient. Time is money.
  • 3Inexperience leading a team
You started off as a one or two person operation and now you have employees to manage. Your team is growing and you need to make the adjustment from being the person who does the work, to the person who leads the people who do the work. You’ve spent so much time and effort learning about the service or product your business provides. Now is the time to develop your leadership, delegation, recruiting, and training skills. After all you don’t get the team you want, you get the team you deserve. If you want a better team, now is the time to grow YOUR skills so that you can get and keep better people to make your business flourish. It’s time for you to step into your role as a business OWNER.
  • 4Partnership Issues
Business relationships are tricky. You and your business partner may find yourself with different visions for the business, different working styles, and different personalities. All this can lead to stress on the partnership. Frustration, poor communication, and stress can result in issues that will impact the results of your business.

Case Study

case

Joe came to us because he was frustrated that he had no time to grow his business, pursue new product development, or see his family because he was spending long hours and weekends putting out fires in his business.

Joe was an entrepreneur who had built an extraordinarily successful business based on his energy, perseverance, determination, and a commitment to providing great customer service. He had built his company by the seat of his pants, chasing opportunities as they came with no real plan or any processes and systems in place.

As he continued to grow his business, problems started to show up in all areas of the business, especially HR, which took up so much of his time he knew that he couldn’t continue to handle all the issues that were coming at him much longer. One option he considered was to scale back, reduce the number of employees and stick to their current area of expertise, instead of seizing new opportunities—all in an effort to gain back some of his time and control.

We went in depth to consider his options, and determined he was only considering scaling back because he was frustrated, exhausted and could not see a solution. We then put a plan in place to create a system of operating his business that took a lot of the responsibility off Joe’s shoulders, freed up his time to seek opportunities to grow the business, and developed other leaders on the team who were all rowing in the same direction.

We set plans and goals, established accountabilities for delivering on these goals, and created processes for recruiting, onboarding and developing the right talent. This reduced his HR issues significantly. He also became aware that he needed a mindset shift around his time management choices, in order to delegate effectively. Now Joe is more in control of his time to do what really mattered to him.
